Before I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II was released in 2008 I didn't really know much about Killer Mike. I'd seen him around Atlanta a few times, I knew he was second generation Dungeon Fam, and I knew a few songs, but I only had a passing interest in his music. I bought IPATTG2 nearly four years and he instantly became one of my favorite MCs. His aggressive, no holds barred delivery, and commentary on issues that affect everybody make him a rare commodity on today's rap scene.
His upcoming album, R.A.P. (Rebellious African People) Music, drops next Tuesday with production from El-P. You can stream it on SPIN. Usually, I hold off and wait until the release date to check out anticipated albums, but I had to to listen to this.
I'll sum it up like this, there will be a permanent scowl on my face all day.
